Shower leak onto floor
Hi all,
We have noted that when we shower we see drops of water at the base of the shower, above the vinyl. We are sure that the shower door is well-closed and that the plastic "seal" at the bottom of the door is well-engaged with the drip tray beneath the door.
Any ideas? We are very concerned about the potential for the water to get under the vinyl into the subfloor.
Thank you for any help!
Phil

Sorry, the last image is upside-down. I have edited it to attempt to get it upright.

Phil, I had this problem with my much older 25FB. I removed the door and noticed what I would call a rather lousy job of caulking around the frame. Water was getting inside the wall and then coming out the bottom just like your picture shows.
I re caulked, reinstalled the frame and all has been good. The door gasket on mine is getting a bit worn and I will see the occasional drip from that but a towel correctly placed is the current solution.

We get water droplets like that when we open the door after a shower. The water that is on the inside glass flows to the bottom seal and when opened some dribbles down the facing.

If you wax the inside of the glass (or better, the whole shower stall except the floor) with automotive wax (I use Turtle Wax Ice), the water will bead up and roll right down. Any drops that cling can be dislodged by simply tapping the glass before you open the door. One waxing can last a whole camping season.

On the second trip with our new 2017 25' RB Flying Cloud we noticed a small trickle of water running out from the wall to floor junction. This was at the rear corner of the wall that holds the bedroom TV. We did not see anything on the first trip. When I opened up the access panel in the lower part of the wall and used a mirror, I could see that the fitting to the shower wand was leaking.
It was fortunate that on this second campsite the trailer was slightly low to port so the water leaked out of the wall and across the hallway where we could see it. I suspect that it was leaking on the first trip but the tilt of the camper was such that the water stayed within the wall and leaked out into the gray tank area and out the bottom of the camper.
Just to be sure, I would recommend opening up your access panel and looking in the wall to make sure that all of the fittings and pipes are secure and that there are no leaks.

There is a big difference between a leak from the shower door that dribbles down to the floor and one that comes from inside the shower itself. When I saw the water on the floor I watched carefully for a leak from the door itself. The wall between the bottom of the shower door and the floor was perfectly dry. My issue was not the door and not the gasket at the bottom of the door.
Your picture sparked a memory, a bad one at that, which is why I responded with my comments earlier. Good luck. I would try the other suggestions first. These would be nice quick fixes.

we saw a bit of water on the floor of our 2017 FC25 and at first thought it was coming off the door when we opened to exit the shower. However, i did open the panel inside the closet to access the fitting to the shower and found that the fitting was leaking. We asked Colonial to fix it during a warranty repair. Will check this weekend to make sure it is fixed before leaving on our next trip. I suggest looking at the fittings on your shower to rule out this type of leak.

Thank you all - I will definitely do as suggested, including opening the hatch in the closet.

I had the same problem on our 23FB and I read on another Airstream Forum thread that said that the caulking down in the corner seams along the shower door frame and drip edge were not done properly by the factor. So I re-caulked the seam and it stopped the leaking.

We have the same problem 2017 27FB
Thanks for all the suggestions, I hope it's only the door that needs calking. Phillip if you can post what you find that would be great. I will do the same.

On both my 25'er, and later the 30'er, FCs I used clear RTV silicone to seal along the base of the walls at the floor, in any place where leakage might crawl under the wall.
This: in any area subject to water; bathroom, shower, galley etc.
Seems to work so far.

Had the very same problem. The bottom of the door frame was not sealed. I resealed from the outside and the problem was resolved.

Just a follow-up. Our dealer stripped and then re-installed the caulking/sealant around the edges of the shower frame (see pic). He was hopeful this would solve the problem.
We recently completed a three week road trip with four people taking showers in the trailer on most of those days. So, lots of data post-fix.
I am happy to report that, for us, this was indeed the required fix. There was no leaking under the wood after this fix was done. I hope this is helpful for others who may find themselves in the same boat.
