Shower door replacement?

Hi -- my husband & I have been living in a 1974 Ambassador 29' Land Yacht now for 3 years. The shower door is a bi-fold unit made up of plastic, and it is starting to crack and fall apart -- not sure how much longer it will stand up to the daily usage.

My questions are:
Is this the original door?
Is there a replacement or a way to fix it?
If not, what have others used as an alternative?

Thanks -- Pauline

Check Camping World out for a replacement door.

We took ours out and replaced it with a shower curtain. I hated the door. Was always having trouble with it. To me it seems like there is more room with the curtain.

How did you mount your shower rod? Is is a simple, straight rod?

I also want to see some ideas. Our bifold is in reasonable shape, I just hate the darn thing. Fully closed is a joke, the sink counter gets soaked. I am considering some SS hand rail tube and end fittings with a bend in the rail to help cover the sink. That and a good cloth curtian would be a huge improvement.

I'm thinking of a simple "L" shaped curtain rod. Attaching one end to the wall and the other to the top of the tambour cabinet. The L shaped rod will follow along the outside edge of the tub then following along the front of the sink counter. This way only the counter to the left of tub will get wet.

Using a simple shower rod will still expose the sink cabinet to spray. I don't like that solution. Sneakinup mounted a "U" shaped curtain rod to the tub. If you haven't seen that setup, do a search for sneakinup and shower curtain.

I had an 87 Soverign that had that awful plastic bi-fold mess of a door. It fell apart one day and I found a real nice acordian shower door at campingworld. It was too wide so I had to take it apart and make it narrow enough for my A/S shower but it worked great...tons better than the old one and it looked nice too!

have shower door, will travel

We have the same model, rear bath '74, and I am remodeling our trailer (actually still doing structural under the bath). We do not intend to put our bifold door back in, you are welcome to it if you want to stay vintage. I would pack it up and ship it freight collect if you want it.

If not, anyone else out there who would like it, please let me know.

Our 69 Overlander had a bi-fold shower door that was more like a screen..(it was kind of like a padded lightweight vinyl board folded in half) it went from the top of the tub to about shoulder height. It folded back in half and snapped onto the wall of the shower when not in use. When in use it opened and sort of fit over the tub so that the water would go into the tub and there was a little clip on the side of the adjacent sink that the door/screen slipped into.....the PO had recovered this shower door/screen before us so it is possible....it actually worked okay since it was a rear bath with a curved ceiling.......paula

You can easily repair the shower door with Plexiglass, or at a greater expense but far superior you can use Lexan.

Or, you can be creative and convert to using a shower curtain, as many owners have already done.

We have a 2005 international ccd. The top of the door frame hinge is loose. Any ideas on an easy fix? Also, is there a repair manual that exists for these models?

Changed

We do not use our shower door. We installed a shower curtain, doubled over (vertically) to ensure no water gets through and sewed velcro onto the curtain and used self sticking velcro on the door frame to keep the curtain in place. It dries pretty quick
