Shower and bath countertop wax sealant

Does anyone know what product to use on '76 airstream ABS hard plastic shower enclosure and vanity countertop to protect from stains etc.? The manual suggests a non-abrasive non-solvent paste wax...but cannot find anywhere. Any suggestions as to what product and where to find it? Thanks

Well, if I had known all I needed was car wax ... boy, do I feel dorky. Thanks for your reply and your google search. If I had known all I had to do was take some minor initiative and type in 'paste wax' into google...

Now, I'm going to have to change my on-line airstream handle because my shame is too much of a burden for me to face the community electronically again... I'm not called trailer trash for nothing. So, which of the 722 different brands of wax paste do you use?

I initially googled paste wax thinking; Johnson's furniture wax, but upon seeing the auto wax links as well, realized that auto wax was what I needed.

I just do searches on about anything I need to find info on. I like Google because I can also search "Groups" which searches forums like these. I am sure other search engines do it too, I am just familiar with Google. Besides it has MacGoogle too, a personal fave.

I usually try a search, whether it's a search engine or within a forum before I post a new topic. I have found that resurrecting old repair and maintenance topics often is more fruitfull than starting a new one, because it generates an email alert to people who have already contributed to the original post, and may have something more to add.

Seriously, thank you again for the info...the Gliptone original carnauba paste wax looks like a winner. Doesn't have any cleansers or additives. I'm going to give that a go. I'll post the results for future dorks.

Seriously - thanks for the suggestion - it never occurred to me to wax the faded plastic in the bath - good idea.

Caution noted. Our tub (shower actually) is so tiny that there is no place to fall to... and we only use it for storage. Waxing the sink area is more what I had in mind. I will be careful not to slip in the sink either....

Gel-Gloss was suggested to me. I picked it up at an ACE Hardware where I had worked about twenty years ago and recalled it being on the shelf. Have been using it on all acrylic, plastic and SS surfaces in our '83 Silver Streak. It is doing a nice job on all those surfaces and allows me to get the cleaning supply box smaller and lighter.

The acrylic bathroom sink (in a color not complementary to the rest of the bath) looks far better than before; not such an eyesore until a SS basin can be installed.

Well, this thread is very old, but with a new post on it I cannot resist mentioning what we use. Yes, Walbernize! Even less to cart around and it really does work well on plastic and the shower gelcoat. As said in 2005, just do not use it on floors, either in the shower or elsewhere unless you are a very good skater in close quarters.

My 75 has some stains on the bathroom counter. I have tried several cleaners and none seem to work very well.

I saw in the manual the suggestion for paste wax, I looked every where for plastic paste wax, didnt find any.
THEN i read the fine print on the wood floor paste wax can and lo and behold there it was "also on leather, plastic..." well, you get the idea.

After 12 coats the bathroom counter, which was dull, yucky and dead, was shining and glowing!

Buffing is HARD elbow grease work, a electric buffer will make it quicker with less toil.
I am a massage therapist; spending an hour buffing the counter before doing 5 massages is not my 'cup o' tea'!!!

I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how, and also solve the leaking shower problem!

The headlight lenses on my son's '90 Z71 Chevy and my wife's '95 astrovan were starting to look cloudy. I went to an auto parts store and bought some plastic scratch remover and it took the cloudiness away. I'm thinking about trying it on my dull shower area.

I waxed everything but the floor of the tub in my 67 Trade Wind. Works great and improves subsequent cleanings. Plus, you ought a see Johnny bead water!

I use Gel-Gloss on my tub, counter tops, and sinks. If you have hard water buildup try using vinegar first.
