Replacing 2014 27FB sink with vessel sink

I'm considering replacing the existing small sink in our 27FB bathroom with a wider, oval vessel sink (as well as the faucet to accommodate the vessel sink). I'm looking at the DECOLAV Classically Redefined White Vessel Oval Bathroom sink in particular (it weighs under 8lbs and has a 14" depth and 19.88" width, which would essentially cover the existing hole after removing the existing stainless steel bowl sink). I was wondering if anyone has done this before and if so, their thoughts?

Yes, I did that, there is a thread somewhere on here with pics. It was an easy install except for needing some plumbing adapters for the drain piping. Improved the looks of the bathroom greatly and eliminated the "stainless" sink that seemed to stain a lot.

Your new sink looks great! Good tip about the drain piping change! I've got to look into how to keep this sink attached to the countertop as well, given that it sits in top instead of being sunk in...definitely do not want it moving while in motion.

Clean the countertop well and use a good caulk/adhesive. You won't have any problems.

We purchased a 2017 23FB International Signature and the bathroom stainless steel sink rusts! This is a great idea to replace with a porcelain white sink, so tired of scrubbing. I think this is a problem from the factory.

Wishing,
That looks totally cool. Only thing to keep an eye on is the final height of the sink once installed. While there are no rules, standard bath counter height with built in sink is 31-32" tall. Many people, us included, have installed 'comfort height' bath cabinets which are the same height as kitchen cabinets at 36" tall. I don't know what your bath counter height in your Airstream is, but if it's normal bath height, installing a vessel sink will probably put it right about to comfort height. As long as that height works for you guys go for it! We find comfort height better as you don't have to lean so far over to wash your face etc. Shorter people may not like taller as much. The sink you chose looks really nice. Clean modern and simple. Airstream should put it in themselves! I agree it goes better with the Serenity look and porcelain is nicer than stainless in a bath. Especially if they've started using a low grade of stainless that rusts! Good stainless doesn't rust!

Hi again, only other thing to consider is whether the stainless sink Airstream puts in the bathrooms has an overflow. The little hole near the top of the bowl that prevents it from overflowing if you leave the water running. Most vessel style sinks don't have an overflow so actually require a different (non-overflow) drain. If the stainless sink is already non overflow, you're good to go.

So -- how did the choice, and install, go? finished photos? Any gotchas on the installation?

We haven't done this install yet, dragging our feet bc I'm afraid of having this heavier porcelain vessel sink dislodge itself during travel. I'm not giving up on replacing the sink though, and am now looking at an 18inch wide Kohler oval stainless drop-in available at Lowe's (I think it is called "Bacharat"?) that might help catch the splashing better. If I can get this done (meaning if I can convince my husband to install it) I will definitely post pictures!

Any updates? It looks like a great idea we found one at IKEA with an overflow. But it is close to 20lbs. My plumber friend tells me that silicone adhesive will hold it just fine. But I am a bit nervous about a porcelain bowling ball in the bathroom.

Sadly, no. Some of the bumpy roads we cross have scared me away from porcelain entirely. I’m still planning on updating with a stainless steel vessel sink or remove the top entirely and have a Corian sink integrated into a Corian countertop, but I’ve tabled those until I can get stuff to stop breaking in my trailer. It’s frustrating...we had a 2012 that had no issues whatsoever, but this 2014 is a challenge.

I did something similar in my '67 Caravel. I used silicon to glue the vessel to the countertop.
