repairing '65 Safari Tub/Sink/Shower

I have the '65 Safari with the one piece Tub/Toilet/Sink molded bathroom. There are numerous cracks, especially on the sink countertop, around toilet and on the 'apron' that extends to the floor. I've removed the faucets and spray, but now realize that the sink and countertop are riveted or screwed in from the back and I can't take the counter all the way off. I've scheduled a local company to come on Wednesday to repair the cracks and refinish the entire bathroom for $675. I was hoping to be able to remove the countertop so that it could be repaired from the back. Is there a way to get it off? Also, is what I'm talking about doing feasible? Smart? If not, what other options are there to repair all the cracks (around 10 total) and refinish the surface?

You are following the same process that I did when the bathroom of my '64 Overlander International was refinished. A local craftsman who specialized in household bathroom refinishing handled the process -- he had me tow the Overlander to his shop -- he spent numerous hours working to get things "just-right" (his hobby was restoring Chevrolet muscle cars from the 1970s) -- his investigation revealed that the bathroom in my Overlander had ABS plastic, Formica, and Fiberglass --he used specialized primer/surfacers for each of the plastic products that permitted him to use the same top-coat process -- it has been a little more than five years since this project was completed and the bathroom still looks like new.

Good luck with your project -- mine was well worth the expense (within a few dollars of the price you indicated).
