Rebuilding '68 Overlander Toilet

We recently purchased our '68 Overlander and need to do some work on the original Thetford Model 1800 Aqua Supreme Toilet. We took it apart and have removed it from the trailer. We got the pedals to move, they were quite locked up with corrosion. We need to replace the badly cracked plastic base that fits between toilet and floor. Are there still parts available to rebuild these toilets, or are there better options available?

You may want to purchase a new one, I thought about fixing the one from our /76. However I was pursuaded to go new. Lotsa options...
Good Luck, keep us posted!

Some parts are still available for the older Thetford toilets butt...a replacement makes a lot more sense to me. Used RV toilets (esp 37 years old) give me the heebee geebees!
The newer Thetfords are relatively inexpensive but I know the Bravura models won't fit in the 68.
I like the Sealand brand because they have a vintage look but cost a little more. Many dealers carry them.
If you yanked that old stool out already, you’re half way there. I would replace it but if you are determined to restore it, call any dealer that carries them and see what parts are still available.
Good luck.

HI - we replaced our retched thetford with a sealand traveler lite model - it was pretty easy and a huge improvement. The new one is made of porcelin and comes in a couple of colors. We had a tight space to put it into - and it was the only model that would fit. It comes in 2 heights and worth every penney we paid for it. Have your local rv dealer order it for you - if they don't have it in stock.

Off topic: I wondered if you would be interested in coming to the wa state mininrally this weekend - a bunch of forum members will be there - you can get loads of free advice. here's a link for info: http://www.airforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=15675

pm with questions or e-mail - there will be other "under improvement" trailers there and we will be installing a univolt in 3Ms75argosy argosy trailer - on site.

I have the same problems. I looked at the sealands, I did not think that they would fit. In our '66 Sovereign there is a fiberglass bench that is part of the same piece as the bathtub. The old toilet came up flush with the bottom of the fiberglass bench. Will the Sealands just bolt right in? They seemed to be more designed as freestanding. Any pointers?
Thanks,
Jon
