pink sink?
I gutted a 66 Overlander a couple of years ago, and I'm just now starting to put it back together. I cleaned the tub and sink this weekend in preparation to Whitecote them after I get the vinyl down on the floor. Is the sink really supposed to be pink? Any Whitecote advice at all?

No it wasn't. Pink was extremely popular in the 50's. It was called "Mamie Pink" because it was Mamie Eisenhower's favorite color. As I was striking out on my own in the late sixties I lived in some very modest apartments - old homes that had been cut into 4 to 6 apartments, and every one of them seemed to have a pink bathroom - usually with gray ceramic tile with a pink trim line!
The sink was probably more of a flesh color - look at the edges that weren't exposed to as much air or light.
Do it over in whatever strikes your fancy. IMHO A little pink goes a long way.

I also have a 66 TW. I never thought of the sink being pink, but I guess it does have a pink hue to it. Here is a picture of it. My plan is to treat it with a solution, that I have found on this forum, to make plastic white again that has yellowed. It has worked quite well for old computers. If this is not satisfactory I will paint it with white topcoat from the makers of Por 15.

The aft sink and shower stall in my Bambi II are both sort of an off-white pink with 48 years of mystery stains. Low on the to-do list is painting them a nice bright white. Also the sink has a crack thru the soap dish. Any suggestions on how to cleanly fix that.

Yes your right, pink and my favorite color, blue-green was popular in the 50's. That pink-brown sink in the pic is the color of the bathtub, toilet, and sink that my dad installed in our house in 1966. Whats the name of that blue-green color, turquoise?
