Man I didn't even know these existed... That is one other thing that these forums are good at, making me spend more money.

Do you guys use this option very often? Seems like a great way to rinse off dirt and grime after a day hiking and swimming and whatnot... Maybe a good place to wash the dog too!

Capt, I don't know how you can get it. Maybe call the AS store in Jackson Center and if they won't sell it to you directly, get the stock number for when you call a dealer. The guy who has the trailer I saw the upgrade on, said he had AS install it while he was at the Alumapalooza. The guy also said that AS was going to do the fresh water fill door/assembly next in stainless steel. Russ

They are really great for washing off the remains of black tank malfunctions when dumping. A liberal dousing of soap, hot water, and your shoes will be as good as new, almost.

I have never seen this outside shower option. Our trailer does have an outside faucet down in the space for the water hookup. Seems to me that a short section of hose with a spray nozzle will accomplish the same thing. Maybe not so cool as the shower option but just as functional. Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Anyone here know anything about the assembly of these outside showers? We have a problem with the cold water knob on ours, which seems to have come apart causing water to rush forth.

Can't figure out how to take it apart to fix it. See related thread.

Thanks,

Maggie

Was at the factory for over a week just before Alumapalooza and at that time there was no Stainless Steel Outside Shower assembly for sale in the AS Store so it must be brand new. This is something I would have noticed immediately if it had been there. Would really like to see a picture if anyone has one. Not only will the door not stay completely shut on mine but the paint is also coming off.

I think the one advantage of having the actual shower box is access to hot water. The disadvantage has been the cheap plastic box that is difficult to keep closed and the paint doesn't stay on the plastic very long. I haven't had a chance to call AS yet about the SS option, but I hope the rumors are true.

Thanks Cap. Haden't thought about the hot water. Should be pretty easy to plumb a hot line to the outside. Might just look into that one.

There are pictures of the new Stainless Steel Outside Shower in the August 2013 Blue Beret online which I got today. Although not listed yet in the online catalog article states they can be purchased thru the Airstream Store. No price given. Looks pretty nice from what I can see.

Not surprised since I expected it to be over 200. Even at that price bet they'll sell a bunch. My trailer is such a mess from filiform every where you look I'm not sure it would be worth putting one on it.

The Airstream part number is 39768W for the stainless steel shower modification kit.

I just bought the SS outside shower at the AS store and installed it. They are not advertising it yet until they make a proper fitting gasket (I had to piece together a gasket from a big sheet of foam gasket they gave me). They faucet, hose and shower head are all much better than the original.
I had to slightly enlarge the hole in the side of the trailer (literally you are sticking a square peg into a round hole). Also had to file a small bit off the inside of the new door to clear the screw heads when closing the door.
Attached are some before & after photos. The key lock in the old door won't fit in the new door, but you could get a lock insert if you want. I plan on keeping the slotted insert that comes with the SS door and risk water thieves.
