Michael!!!!

Pretend the theme to 2001 A Space Odyssey is playing in the background....

I feel so enlightened, transcending my previous cave man station in life.

Better than fire (ouch), club (ouch again), or leaves (itch).....

Thanks!!!

Steve

Thanks Michael!!!

Rodney, I don't think there is any goop for this purpose, but check at the hardware store. If there is sealant, it'll be the same stuff used for residential toilets.

Hi Rodney,

You got me curious, I am also in the market. Planning to replace carpet with cork and the old Thetford has a broken seat. Hard riding with a broken saddle.

Anyway, I downloaded the manual and the only mention of any sealant is if it is being installed in a shower stall (or wet bath, I guess), see Installation, page 4, step 4 & Figure B. Otherwise the floor seal, step 6, takes care of it.

I know that the Thetfords have a closed cell foam floor seal and no sealant. I guess they would also need something in case of installation in a shower or wet bath to keep water from outside the throne from getting to the floor underneath.

I didn't realize that SeaLand was a Dometic product till you got me checking. They look like a nice place to "take care of business." Post some photos when you get it installed. (Unoccupied, of course.)

Rodney,

Don't forget to balance your running gear and install a good sway control device.

Just use the foam ring. Domestic toilets use a wax ring and they will not perform correctly in a RV. Too much movement on the AS and would eventually leak. You can get a foam gasket at any RV supply. I've bought it at my local RV before.
