new shower adapter?

i have a 84 airstream and i wanted to replace the shower head and hose when i took the old (original) off i noticed it has an adapter glued to it that makes it able to connect to the wall part so i can not get a standard shower head for my airstream a standerd has the threads on the inside the adabter makes the threads on the outside any ideas about this adapter and where i can get one

I had a similar problem with the shower but reversed from your situation.
The fixture on the tub was leaking beyond repair so I picked up what I thought was a close replacement. After replacing the leaking faucet the original hose to the shower head wouldn’t fit. I definitely wanted to keep the vintage sprayer in place.
I took both pieces to the hardware store and matched each one up on the board that displays all the different adapters. Try every fitting you can find. Maybe you’ll get lucky. I didn’t.
My solution was to buy the two that fit the faucet and hose, cut off the threads that didn’t fit, and silver soldered the two together.
While I faced the treads off with a lathe, careful work with a saw and file should work fine. The brass fittings solder easily with a small torch.
Well, now that I’ve given you the hard way to do this someone will probably post a direct replacement part number, price and ordering info.
