As well as the other issues already discussed, there are at least two other points to be considered. The existing windows may very well have to be removed and repositioned, a fairly formidable job, when one considers what that really means.

Also, the majority of the roof vents will also need to find new homes. Lots of cutting and patching are involved in these two jobs.

IMHO. If the current layout is really a problem for you, I would put it to you that selling the AS you are currentky working on and purchasing another unit would be cheaper and more importantly, faster.

You don't really want to make working on a trailer your lifes work do you? Camping is ever so much more fun.

Newbie popping into this conversation. 1973 Safari LandYacht. We too want to move the rear bath to side but going with compost toilet. Also going to keep new bath on same side as existing kitchen sink (to make things as easy as possible - yes I know it'll be a stink-load of work). Gaining that beautiful large window for the bed seems worth it.
Keep talking - I'm listening

Actually, working on the trailer is as much fun as camping. The new bath and shower are centered on the side windows. A lot of work, but ended up working well for us.

I say "Go For It!" - we did, and enjoyed the fruits of our labor. I will warn you that it will not be easy to find a black water tank that will fit your needs and you will have to relocate the vents. But we just returned from our 10 day 1,300+ mile maiden voyage and loved every minute of it. We are already planning more upgrades and/or looking for another AS to remodel with all of the "things we'd do differently". I would suggest you verify the windows will fit your new layout as they are the hardest to move/cover up. Get some 3D home design software and play with the sizes/locations of things before you start tearing things apart.

FWIW: Don't worry so much about balancing out the trailer as long as you are putting tanks & interior items in the same general area where they were to begin with.
