Mid bath shower ideas

I recently bought a 1985 Excella 31. It is in very nice condition, no leaks, solid floor, well taken care of. The only interior I dont like is The original twin matresses, original drapes, and most of all the shower. Pan is old, discolored but solid. Walls are the vinyl wall paper. I am looking for ideas. I definetly wood like to do the walls. What material have you used? Is it possible to chang pan without taking out walls.

I found a post, two minutes after I posted, about FRP panels. Thats what I was looking for. I still have the question about the pan. Can it be changed without taking out walls? Has anyone refinished one, its in good shape except for color?

I used FRP for the shower walls along with some corian and a drop in shower base. The whole process is documented here: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f46/...up-100164.html

Here is what we did with our 1985 31' Excella mid bath. The plexiglass panel on the back wall is called 'Mother of Pearl', and is 1/8" thick. We pealed off all of the sticky wall paper, and painted it with ext. grade paint. The shower floor is a spray epoxy. We sanded the hell out of the bench and floor first. I took out the little separation wall, and made a curved shower curtain from one at bed Bath and Beyond- with a glue gun. Sorry about the sideways pics-

We are renovating the mid bath in our recently purchased 1987 34. The toilet in the middle of the of the area just doesn't seem "private" enough. We are pulling out the tub and converting that space to a combined toilet/shower similar to what they do on small yachts. Has anybody else done this type of conversion?

I have seen this done by a company in Santa Barbara called Hofmann Architecture. They renovate Airstreams and other shiny trailers, and we walked through their yard once where they showed us this very renovation on a center bath. It looked amazing! Where did you find the mother of pearl FRP?

I found it at a local plastics store that sell all kinds of panels. It's called Gavreili Plastics in North Hollywood, CA

We live in Southern California and I am about to start stripping the self-peeling contact paper from the divider walls. I have never been a fan of “medium oak” so plan to prime paint and sponge paint the walls to try to match the side walls of the 1985 Excella 30’ mid-bath. The shower itself is my biggest concern so the FRP source is key. I don’t mind that the pan is yellowed because, hey, muddy feet will always be in there anyway! But getting a seal and keeping things dry are so important.

Does anyone have suggestions on whether to place the fake wood floor strips under the divider panels? I suppose the panels will need to be trimmed at the bottom with a table saw.

Started trying to peel fake oak contact paper from bulkhead of 1985 30’ mid-bath. Turns out the 1/2 inch material is an MDF core with a thin veneer of FIR which was unstained/unsealed and shredded when I peeled off the contact vinyl. So for $200 we will get ultra light MDF from local wood supplier and paint / sponge paint to match vinyl sidewalks. The walls around the shower need to be marine-grade ply. Looking for fiberglass refinishers in San Diego for the yellowed endcaps, shower floor and ac cover (I’m not willing to guarantee my diy work).��
