leaky bath sink faucet

Readying Gypsy for a fall trip, we have discovered a leaky faucet in the bath sink. We have the divided center bath. The faucet is strange to us, configured just for this situation, I think. It is a two hole, one piece, construction, about a 6-7" spread. The faucet is closer to the wall, "left" side, and the handle is on the "right" side. The faucet lifts from its housing with a length of attached flexible hose. We seem to have a small amount of leaking water from both the faucet and handle, but we see no wetness underneath the counter. Knowing nothing about plumbing, we are uncertain where to begin. Does anyone else have such a bath fixture? Is it replaceable and where would we find a replacement? Is this a correctable problem and how do we fix? Any help is very appreciated. Recently we have repaired our awful droopy ceilings, replaced a broken lock on the rear storage compartment, and now we need this completed. Then with a good wash and wax, she'll be ready to hit the road in September ~G

This is a very general reply. The leak from the faucet is caused by a bad seat in most instances replaceable. The leak from the handle is caused by leaking packing around the stem, replaceable or adjustable. The solution to the problem is to remove the handle then remove the steam to repack and replace the seat. More than likely your local hardware store will have the required parts. Before attempting disassembly do some searching on the web for exploded views of various faucets to get a idea of the general construction.
