Lavatory Faucet

The lavatory faucet in our "05 25' Safari is of the double valve type (one for hot and one for cold). Even though it operates perfectly and is nice looking, I would like to replace it with a single handle lever type. Can I just go to Lowes or Home Depot, buy one that I like and install it, or is there some special type for an Airstream?

Thank you Gary. As soon as we return home from our big trip. We will be picking out a new faucet.

The hot handle of my lavatory sink faucet is loose (2005 Safari). There does not appear to be any hex nut by which to tichten the handle. How do I retighten the handle?

Thanks,

Neil,

If you know the mfg./model you can check their website for parts drawings that may clue you in on how to tighten your handle.

Not sure what type of handles your unit has, but ours have a rather large round piece just below the handles. Our handles sometimes comes loose from wiping them clean. To tighten we turn the round piece. Turn it one way to tighten and the other to take the handles off. BTW we have an 04 Safari w/ upgrades. Hopes this helps.
Best,

This is the new single handle that we installed several months ago. It was the second one that we installed. The first single handle did not have a long enough reach into the sink.

WaywardWind,

Yours sounds like mine, large round piece below the hot handle. It covers all between the handle and the base. Thanks,

BTW, moosetags, your single handle looks nice.

Thanks,
Neil -- This happened to my '06 about a year ago. I searched the manufacturer's website & found a diagram. Instead of repair I only had to tighten it well -- IIRC I had to get to the underside. I don't recall more -- I'm bringing my Safari home tonight to prepare for a weekend trip. I'll post again if anything rings a bell. My impression is that the fix was actually quite simple.
