Impossible toilet.

Hi, I finally want to buy a new toilet; Simple right? Wrong. My toilet sits on a pedestal so actual toilet height is about 14"s. I want a low profile, bone, ceramic toilet. Every description that I have read says, "also comes in 14" but they don't give part number for the 14" model even though the title says low profile. Some adds say shipping weight is 9 or 12 lbs; This can't be! I have searched for days and can't find what I want. I don't want to order a toilet that is wrong. Why is something that should be simple, be so difficult?

Or is it just me?

Still searching.

Hi, well it seams as though, unlike houses, there is little or no standard for toilet spacing. Searching deeper, I found that most RV toilets are 11"s from the center of the mounting bolts to the back. [wall clearance] Mine is only about 7 1/2"s and only 10 /1/5 inches from the wall. This leaves me 1/2" short and I'm not cutting into the wall. I think an Aqua-Magic ll with a 9 1/2" distance from the mounting [toilet flange] might work. At one sight, they had a line drawn though this item. Does this mean that this model is discontinued??

Still looking.

Amazon.com: Thetford 31651 Aqua-Magic V Toilet, Low / Pedal Flush / Parchment: Automotive

Second link has dimensions.

I've given up search for a china toilet since they won't fit in my bath.

Hi, The Aqua-Magic V is what we have now and we want china this time. Checking specs again, I think the Aqua-Magic ll in low profile and bone color is going to be my only choice. [9 1/2" spacing]

I've looked at Dometic and Thetford and all their china bowel dimensions from center of drain to the end are about 11".

If you find a china toilet that has dimensions like the Aqua Magic let us know.

I'm on a similar quest for my 2000 25' Excella, complicated by the limited space. It currently has a Thetford Galaxy Classic (plastic), which is no longer made. It no longer holds water in the bowl, and my re-build attempt yielded no improvement. It's a messy job, and I don't recommend doing it even if it's successful. Like many others, the toilet sits on an elevated platform, so the low-profile model is my preference since the high profile would simply sit too high. The only "direct fit" is the Thetford Bravura, but I didn't like it because it's too bulky...takes up too much room on the sides. The discharge throat position becomes critical in figuring out which toilet will work. Because of that, some won't work at all, and others will then project out into the doorway path more than I would like. With the toilet lid in the up position, all, or nearly all are taller than our existing Galaxy...meaning that the lid would encounter the towels handing in the racks overhead. All things considered, I've decided that the Dometic 310 (the low-profile version is the 311) is the best fit for our limited space, though none are perfect. The spreadsheet below compares various options. The “Actual Toilet Area Dimensions” refers to my specific model.

Regarding the issue of the replacement toilet projecting out into the doorway path too much, that can be modified somewhat by rotating the toilet flange (it screws into the tank). You will lose some knee clearance with the wall, but depending upon the toilet, it could work.

Update / new toilet.

Hi, well I finally found what looks like it will work in my trailer, so I ordered one. I ordered a Aqua-Magic Style II # 42063 ceramic toilet. I ordered a 14" tall model in bone color. I had to drill out a new hole in my floor and move the water supply line closer to the wall. The PEX was easy to move to new hole. The inlet of the two toilets are completely different in locations. I bought a few fittings and a flex hose and was able to make it all work. I added an elbow fitting and shortened the PEX as short as possible so the shut off valve would fit behind the toilet. I did this so I could loop the flex line and keep most of it out of sight. And because the floor fitting and toilet fittings are very close to each other. I also installed an elbow fitting at the floor. I bought a chrome bezel to cover the floor hole for the new location and plugged the old hole with a rubber plug. Actual testing will be after I de-winterize my trailer or for our next trip, whenever that will be.

(1.) Old original plastic toilet.

(2.) New ceramic toilet with flex hose and fittings installed.

(3.) Flex hose and valve fittings at floor mount and bezel. Note old floor 1/4 round moldings.

(4.) New larger 1/4 round floor moldings. [I have to make two more pieces for the main floor]

(5.) New toilet in place at outside door view.

(6.) New toilet at same view as old plastic toilet.

Looks like a clean professional install. The taller toilet sure helps us oldies with bad knees.

Just as a side note, I had a real hard time fitting a toilet to the right height in a '64 and keeping it original. The help was the double ended threaded extension from VTS. I did build up some mounting blocks to support the toilet over the tank, but I was able to dial in the exact height. Had to trim the threaded abs a little but it worked.

I'm still not sure I can replace my Aqua Magic V in my Classic 25fb. The Aqua Magic V is 7 5/8" from center of hole to the back. The Style II is 9 1/2", a 1 7/8" difference. I'm not sure i have 2" clearance to the bath wall from my current Aqua Magic V. I'll have to measure.

How much clear space did you have with your old toilet to the back wall?

Hi, My bathroom wall is 10 1/2"s from the hold down bolts. I would think that yours would be the same. I did not measure the distance from the wall to the back of the toilets; I just knew there was room from the specs. At 9 1/2"s and a wall at 10 1/2"s, this should give me a one inch space left over.

(1.) Aqua Magic V plastic.

(2.) Aqua Magic II ceramic.

Looks like the Agua Magic is an oval while the Style II is a round toilet. Is it as comfortable as the old toilet.

What is advantage of a china toilet in an RV? The seat is still plastic. The china bowl is heavier. Plastic is easy enough to keep clean.

Hi. My Aqua Magic V is plastic and also round. [RV size] My Aqua Magic Style II is larger and round. [House size] Being larger, it has to be more comfortable, but it may be months before I get a chance to actually use it. Yes both seats are plastic but way different.

What are the advantages in a ceramic toilet? The biggest advantage is in it's design. The plastic toilet is hollow and debris can splash up, or the black water can condense inside of the hollow body of the plastic toilet. If you ever remove it, and turn it up-side-down, you will absolutely be disgusted by the sight of all of the junk that got up inside of the hollow body of the plastic toilet. This is in a place that cannot be cleaned. On the ceramic toilet there is a direct connection from the bowl to the black tank. It is basically a connector tube with a ball valve.

On the plastic toilet, if the seat ever breaks, you have to buy a new one for about $45.00 for this model. On the ceramic toilet, you can buy a new seat at Home Depot or Lowes.
