Talking How do i remove my '68 water filter for cleaning?

Hi all,
I need to clean out and replace filter/repack charcoal? in my kitchen sink water filter. I removed the steel container from the unit and now I see a black plastic cylinder. How do I remove this safely and can anyone recommend how to get it in working condition again? The water coming out of the sink is no longer drinkable even after sanitizing the holding tank. Help!

Thanks for your time.

Marked recreational vehicle institute water filter!

It just screws off... see attached photo of mine. I didn't replace ours but I think you can get a new cartridge, screw it back on and you should be in business. Mine was just full of black muck water, probably from the carbon.

Good Luck,
Pat

It's an EVERPURE #150, I've seen them on amazon and eBay, Northwest Trailer Supply is an RV Distributor that handles them.
