Aria, what brand of toilet and where does it seem to leak from? I had a leak in my Sealand from the water valve ~ winterizing issue. An easy DIY part replacement fixed the problem.

If it's fresh water, there are three top sources:
1. Frozen inlet valve. This sucker is very fragile and susceptible to freezing. Cost is ~$37 to replace.
2. Deteriorated vacuum breaker, which is a small plastic rectangular box toward the top of the toilet--the line from the valve goes there, then from there the flow goes to the bowl. There is a small float valve that has sealing material that deteriorates. This only leaks while water is flowing and if you do really short flushes you might not notice it.
3. The internal plumbing is plastic hoses held with spring clamps. These get old and loose, so almost any connection can start to leak.

Thank you. Zeppelinum, I am printing a copy of your answer and giving to my husband. He decided NOT to remove the toilet. He purchased a special $1.99 mirror to be able to SEE the connection etc.
He is working on it today. He thinks it may be a small line crack in the plastic? Or the gasket...looks bad.
Thanks again. Will have a better report later. Regards Aris

Zep, Sugarfoot, Fyrowt, Got some answers: Yes it is fresh water. Toilet make Mansfield Sanitary, Perrysville, Ohio Model 91C Serial # 612240.
The rubber gasket that goes from bottom of toilet - to flange is rotted. Could I use a wax seal? I called Vintage Trailer Supply, and Inland...they do not have the rubber gasket.
What do we do? Thanks Aria

Aria, is it possible your model is a 910? At any rate, try Mark's RV. We've had good luck getting parts from them.

A wax seal will not work for long with the vibration an RV experiences.
Out of curiosity, why do you want to replace it? If I read your previous posts correctly, the toilet has not been removed, and no odors are present. So gasket replacement does not appear to be mandatory. Just because it looks bad (with the toilet installed) does not necessarily mean trouble is imminent.
The easiest way to obtain a replacement gasket is to take the old one to ANY place that sells RV parts and let the counterman match it to what's on the shelf in the back room.

ok..another question..Does the metal flange screw into top or tank or press fit?
We could see that the leak was around the gasget area.
Thanks. The wax not working.

Metal flange? Mine has a PVC tube extension about 3" diameter. Typically, trailers don't use wax. There should be a foam ring gasket with every toilet kit. The toilet is held down with the same toggle ("T") bolts that a house toilet uses, except they are longer and closer to the flow path.
I'm no fan of the foam ring, but it seems to work.

Aria, when I replaced my toilet, the diections called for a universal adaptor, which had a seal on it that seated on the metal ring. This was available at my local RV store. Just clean the metal ring good first, and don't bend it. I couldn't figure out how it was in there either, and almost tweaked it beyond repair messing with it.

Thanks Dave. We are searching for a new gasket. There aren't RV stores around us. Once we locate the gasket...I think we can put the toilet back together.
Got a PM from Sharon....she said to look for other leaks. It may be MORE than the toilet. The search is on. Thanks again, Aria

Thanks to all that responed to our Toilet Problem. Mel gave me Mark's RV and we ordered the gasket today. We also ordered fiberglass(they suggested) to put around the rotted wood area.
The gasket model 910(thanks to Mel) expected in 2 days. We are all set for the repair job. Tom W....I just do the typing. Husband is doing the requests, and repair. Thanks again, will give results soon ...I hope. Aria

we just filled up the fresh water tank last night (sanitized) for the first time after winter, ran all the faucets and noticed a leak in the toilet.
got on here to do a search and see how easy/hard it was going to be to repair and came right across this thread. picked up a new inlet valve and installed it today. no more leak! thanks for the info! jk

Repair Toilet Leak
Thanks to you. We have a new gasket from Mark's RV (Mel). He suggested to repair with epoxy around the small section of rotten wood.
Upon examination (waiting for the epoxy stuff to dry and another coat) there is a plastic piece connected to metal and then a copper small piece of pipe.
The plastic(white) has a hairline leak. Is this the inlet valve? Husband is working. I am trying to get more info for him. Zep? Aria
