Dometic 310 Porcelain Toilet Upgrade
Out with the old, in with the new. Our 2007 Airstream International Signature came with a Aqua-Magic toilet. All plastic, small seat, kinda gross.
Enter the Dometic 310 Porcelain toilet, which I believe is standard now? Can't confirm, maybe someone else can.
Installation is simple enough for even the least technically capable.
It goes without saying, turn off the water, your pump and let the pressure out of the line.
Two nuts and a 1/2 female hose held the original in place. I removed those, and the old toilet simply lifted off the floor.
Installation was a breeze. But to make things simpler, watch this:
Alright, now for the Airstream tid-bits.
The location of the cold water hookup on the Dometic is down near the base, so I had to cut the pex piping seen in the above photo of mine.
I don't know if it's the area or what, but I had a hard time finding a Sharkbite connector and a short piece of 1/2 to 1/2 flex hose. But I did fine 20 inches of this....
Ok, that's more than I need, but it will work.
It's also a sharkbite knock off but works the same way.
You cut your Pex, press on the pex end, and then attach the other end to the toilet.
And then follow the rest of the steps in the video.
The end.
Final product:
Hope someone finds this useful.

We did this last year, too, and had zero problems other than having to route the new water line a bit differently; I used a toilet supply line and an elbow to keep from trying to flex it too much.
The only problem we have is that the new toilet is a bit taller than the old one, so now the cabinet door next to it doesn't open all the way. Not a huge deal, but if you're considering this upgrade, look around and make sure there won't be any interference issues. If there are, consider going low profile again.

Standard in my 2015. That little plastic fitting at the back faile don mine and leaked everywhere...probably worth keeping a spare handy if you find one cheap..

toilet replacement
What a great country we live in! If we don't like plastic we just throw it away and buy porcelain! Millions of people would be happy just to have a toilet.

Did you get the 18" or 14" height. Do you find there is more legroom with this toilet? The 27fb and 25fb bathrooms are similar.
Do the mounting holes match exactly with the Thetford?
Did you have to replace any floor gaskets for the new toilet?
Did the new toilet not come with flexible hoses?

Kevin,
We bought the high rise one, 18". And I feel there is more room for the left knee and overall more comfortable.
The holes do in fact match perfectly on ours.
Nope, gasket on base of toilet was there. Mounting base screwed to floor was re-used.
No hose came with it.

We also bought the wood lid to replace the plastic one that comes with the 310. I thought about people starving in Africa and said, I want to take a dump on wood. So I threw the plastic lid out. Merica!

Looking at your finished installation photo it appears the rear part of the toilet is right up against the wall. Is there a space between the toilet and wall. My Aqua Magic is angled slightly from the bath counter to allow you to sit straight without the knee hit the cabinet.
Would you be able to angle the toilet a little without the toilet hitting the rear wall?

I had the taller one installed in my Classic last year. It's basically handicap height, which is great for my worn out knees. (It's just a tad tall for 5'2" DW, but she's coping.)
We lost the sprayer, but you really don't need it, anyway. It is somewht smaller in diameter, so there is a bit more room in the bathroom, now. (Yes, you can sit up straight)
My rule for the toilet in my camper has always been SIT. If you think it's demeaning to squat like a girl, go outside to pee.

Looks great. Caution though for some - I tried to do the same upgrade in my 2011 FC FB Twin (with angled toilet), and could not, as there was not enough offset from the wall to the drain hole to fit the 310. This was true whether the toilet was angled or not. Best, Joe

Gosh, what an unkind post. I, for one, really appreciate the thread. My 2008 Safari has the identical toilet that Bold Adventure had in his 2007 International and I can vouch that it is uncomfortable and very difficult to clean. The toilet in your Classic is likely an upgrade from the toilets in lower priced units.
Thanks Bold Adventure for the post. It is an upgrade we would like to make.

It is right up against the wall. I was aware of this from some of the other buried threads. If I didn't mention it, it is angled slightly and there is more room for that left knee than with the previous unit.
We're a younger couple, so your milage may very.

Same is true for our 2011 Serenity. Bought the 310 and Lazy Days was kind enough to buy it back when it wouldn't fit. Our problem is old knees and squatting. Lazy Days came up with a riser that raised it up 3-4 inches and let them straighten it out so you can close the door without banging you knees. Both the DW and I are happy.

Thanks for the nice report, BA. We have a 25' fb, and the specs for the 310 indicate it won't fit. Has anyone found a porcelain toilet that would work in a 2007 25' Safari? The plastic needs to be dethroned, and the sooner the better. Thanks for any suggestions.

Janet,
We have a 2006 25 FB and the 310 does fit....but.....it took a bit of work to get it in. There is a plastic valve with a plastic covering that sits on top of the toilet. I had to trim off some extraneous pieces of the valve and then trim a part of the plastic cover. It is tight to the wall but fits now and works GREAT. Our old plastic one was getting rather gross and was hard to keep clean. This porcelain bowl is really much better.
