Which 23' do you have (23D or 23FB)?

We recently installed a Nature's Head in our 23FB and so far are very happy with it. It fits nicely in our model, helps us conserve fresh water, and we no longer have to deal with black water.

A Nature's Head in a 23D might be a tight squeeze; detailed measurements of the toilet are available on the Nature's Head website.

Check out Gone With The Wynns, they are not Airstreamers, but have several videos with information about composting toilets. Here is a link to one of their videos, you can get to the other videos via this link as well:

We put two Nature's Heads in our sailing catamaran. I think this is a fantastic idea for an Airstream. I would love to replace our black water tank with another fresh water tank. Gray water is easy to get rid of.

thanks. we do have the 23d (airstream calls it the 23cnb). it is too small for a nature's head and even for a airhead, which we prefer. we are going to wait til we get a 25fb. so glad you are enjoying. i know it is the right move.

We have a 27 foot FB with the stock 38 gallon black tank and find that as is, it lasts us about two weeks (2 persons who use it all the time and never camp restrooms.) We boondock all the time and since we never stay in one place for more than two weeks, this has never been an issue for us.

Compost toilet in 19 FC

Deljim,

I believe that our 2015 19 FC has the same bathroom layout as the 23D so I am very interested in why you found that a composting toilet would not fit? Our trailer is in storage until April so we are going to the dealer this next weekend to take detailed measurements. I had thought that we could shoehorn it in if we made a small shelf to step up on and to support our feet when using the toilet. That would make it a little tight getting in/out of the shower. We planned on keeping the black tank for a secondary grey water tank.

Natures Head fits in 19' FC

I wanted to update this thread with the news that we were very successful at installing a Natures Head Composting Toilet into our 2015 19' FC. Here is a link to a short summary with some photos:

We have a Nature's Head in our 22' Interstate diesel van. If it can fit in there... because it is surely the smallest RV bathroom out there, except maybe a Roadtrek gasoline van. My husband installed. It sits very high since it sits on the bump for the black tank so we keep a folding step stool in there. We are not taking out the black tank in case we sell and the buyer wants to put back the marine toilet. This modification has made our travels so much easier. He was very against it and is now a convert.
