Cheap Shower Door - I Gave Up...
As noted by other poster's who have an International, the shower door has a serious design flaw. In order for it to operate smoothly, it "hangs" from a very small bolt that screws into the upper header of the door. When this breaks, the door drops onto the sill, breaks the plastic sweep and makes it very difficult to open and close the door. So, today I investigated. The tiny little bolt (pot metal) had sheared. IMHO, the door is much too heavy to be suspended from a bolt that's this fragile. As I looked at the rest of the install, I decided to rip the whole door out and put in something more substantial. (I also saw evidence of a "gorilla" attack where the fiberglass was shattered in 4 places by someone who had too much torque dialed into his cordless screwdriver). This particular door (Sterling) pivots on two very solid bolts (1/4") -- steel. The job took a couple of hours as I had to do a bit of carpentry work as the new door is 65 1/2" high and the old one was 64". Took me a couple of hours, but this is a much higher quality door and it is NOT suspended by a cheap, teeny, tiny bolt.
