Can I take the toilet apart without removing it?

Does anyone know if it's possible to take the toilet apart without actually removing it from the floor? It's the plastic toilet in my 85 excella. It seems like the upper plastic shell should remove from the lower, but I can't quite pull it apart.

The real problem is that somethings messed up with the water pedal. If the pump is on, water runs in the toilet. My guess is that it just needs to be cleaned up and lubed, but who knows.
I just don't want to have to pull it from the floor and make the situation much worse.

It would probably be easier to just bite the bullit and pull it off. It will be easier to work on where you have the room and light tosee what is wrong and make a proper repair. Have you thought about replacing it with poecelin.

I haven't thought of replacing it yet. I'm really scared to find out what kind of treasures might be hiding under there. You make a good point; working on it would be much easier if it was completely removed.
Is there any advantage to going porcelain, besides the obvious comfort of not having to use a plastic toilet?

What model do you have Kris? Sounds like your water valve at the pedal is getting stuck. I replaced mine without having to remove the toilet. Was pretty easy.

It maybe the water valve itself. They are pretty cheaply made but cost about $50 to replace. The toilet attaches like a standard toilet but the back bolt can be a little tricky. There is a hole in the top to access the rear bolt. There is a foam rubber O-ring at the floor much like the ones they sell for house toilets. There is not much to the toilet. I think a whole toilet is like $200.

When I get home I'll check to see what model toilet I'm dealing with. The trailer is an 85 excella. It seems like a valve is stuck open or something like that, but I'm not sure how to go about accessing the area.
That gives me hope that you were able to fix yours. The water runs slowly enough as to not create a problem and I get plenty of water pressure elsewhere. Still I want to fix it.
