Bathrooom sink faucet access 1964

How do you access the lavatory sink faucet and shower/tub faucet water lines on a 1964 Safari?

It looks like the surround piece that the shower/tub faucet is attached to may have to come off to get to the lavatory sink faucet.

Can I remove the 12 screws under the sink rim and remove the panel with the tub faucet attached? Is it that simple? Are the original tub faucet water lines flexible?

There’s no access from the rear service access panel.
