Bathroom faucet and toilet stuff

On our last outing I found the bathroom faucet was leaking into the rear closet. It is a 4" spacing with a shower diverter on top. Sink mounted.

I tried to get new o-rings but it still leaks. Also there is no gasket along the bottom of the faucet where it meets the the sink.

So I removed it and am looking for a replacement that will accept the shower wand. Any ideas?

Also, while I'm at it, I am thinking of replacing the toilet seal. If I pull the toilet, what are the chances I will be able to get a new seal for it? It's an original Aqua Magic.

Finding a faucet with the shower diverter isn't a particular problem as the basic 4" spread faucet with diverter is still a common RV part. The problem will be if you want a metal unit (I am guessing that Airstream may have still been using metal faucets in the '70s as my '78 Argosy had metal faucets). RV dealers (even my favorite Airstream dealer) don't typically stock anything but the plastic variety faucets - - they are evidently available, but seem to often be a special order item. Since they are often the product of companies in the household plumbing areas, a plumbing supply house may be able to order what is needed from one of their catalogs.

The Aqua Magic in my Overlander dates to the mid-1970s, and my Airstream dealer hasn't had any problems getting new seals in each of the instances when it has been taken out for repairs over the past nine years.

Good luck with your search for a replacement faucet unit!

Kevin

If you still want to try to resurrect your original faucet, I posted this after replacing the valves on ours:

leaking faucet

Our kitchen faucet was leaking when the water was turned on. I took the valve down to Home Depot and to my surprise they had a matching pair. I installed them and no leaks. Ours is a Pfister Price brand in our 61 Overlander. I now have to do the same in the bath. Too easy!!!

Good Luck!

Thanks, mtpalms.

I took the valve down and replaced all the orings and stuff and it still leaked.

Plus there is no gasket along the bottom where the faucet meets the sink.

So, I think I will just put the new cheap one it and keep the old one for a back up.

Like I said before, you can not really restore an airstream because the replacement parts are infereior ;-)
