Anyone use Incinolet incinerator toilet?

INCINOLET uses electric heat to reduce human waste (urine, solids, paper) to a small amount of clean ash, which is dumped periodically into the garbage. INCINOLET remains clean because waste never touches the bowl surface. A bowl liner, dropped into the bowl prior to use, captures the waste, then both liner and its content drop into the incinerator chamber when the foot pedal is pushed. You can use INCINOLET at any time-even while it is in cycle.

A Typical Cycle:

Incineration cycle is started with the push button. Both heater and blower come on when button is pushed. Heater alternates off and on for a preset period of time, blower continues on until unit has cooled.

Several people may use the toilet in rapid succession. Push the start button after each use to reset the timer.

This looks like it would be the ultimate RV bathroom, but at $1,800 its not cheap. My main question is: DOES THIS WORK as advertised? I would love to maximize my options and build both toilet styles into my airstream if this is the real deal. Anyone have one? Has anyone used one?

Would it require a huge amuont of electricity? What if you are boondocking?

Power consumption would be a problem. 120V only 1800 or 3600 Watts, That is 15A or 30A.

You may wish to consider the Sun-Mar range of products. They have home/RV/boat models. Lower power consumption than an Incinolet, but equally expensive.

I have been around one at work. I refused to use it. When I first started in that area the vent would back draft. Imagine that smell. When we had heavy use it backed and the element burned out. Now we bring in portapotties when there is a work group that can't go back across the levee. They have found scorch marks on the ceiling where is exits the roof. The smell down wind stinks, the blower is noisy, and it pulls a lot of amps. This is a unit of last resort were nothing else is feasible.

I can't imagine spending that much $$$ for a toilet. Are you trying to eliminate holding tanks? With that setup you would not be able to boondock unless you want to bring a generator.

I too remember them from where I worked. The smell was AWFUL! Theory was great but that's where it ended.

I'm sure the larger ones require ALOT of power. Not familar with smaller RV type, though. But still, the stink has to be the same.

We can highly recommend the Natures Head Composting Toilet. We have been using it full time for almost a year and it has worked very well. Yes, there is some maintenance involved, but every time we drive past the dump station and watch some poor guy struggling with the stinky slinky, we rejoice! Check them out at:

Have you guys plumed the "wet" side of the commode to a tank or go with the bottle? How long in the real world do you go before you have to dump the compost bin?

The Natures Head separates the wet waste from the dry. We empty to pee bucket every three or four days depending on the beer budget! The compost bin under full time use goes six weeks or more, and we empty it in a number of creative ways depending on where we are. It can go down a camp toilet. It can go in the woods. It can go into somebody's compost pile if it is not for vegetable gardening. Or worst case scenario it can go in a dumpster. When it comes out, it is just very rich peat moss with no discernible odor.

Now ... as a reference ... how often do you use your trailer? Any other helpful hints would be welcome as I am considering this for my trailer. Days per week/month of trailer camping use, I mean ...

As a matter of fact, the longer you leave things in there, and as long as you keep the fan running and keep stirring occasionally, the more they compost.
