A Concerto in the Bathroom?

I am in the process of installing a new waste system in my '67 Ambassador. I need to locate the the grommet in the Black tank to receive the toilet flange. Since I have limited "wiggle room" to locate the toilet I need to decide on which toilet I'm going to install. I've been looking at the Sealand Concerto.

Has anyone had experience with this toilet?

Any reasons to not choose this model?

Any suggestions for similar alternatives?

I'd really appreciate some opinions from some of you folks that have actually used an RV toilet (unlike myself)

These are high end porcalin bowls... they are usually in the high end Diesel Pusher motorhomes. It's the only toilet I've ever seen that has a circuit board controling the unit, so you will need 12V....

I'd rather spend my $$ on safety, fun, or other decorative items... but to each man (or woman) her throne.

If they have a low profile, I'd install one in my 25 Classic.

This is the Concerto installed in the 1976 ARGOSY that I am renewing now.



Note that the original above-floor black tank has been replaced with one located below the deck.

If your trailer has an above-floor black tank, and you keep it there, the Concerto may be too tall (in the finished position) and too heavy for the existing sub structure.

I PM"ed Lewster when I replaced my toilet. He recommended and sold me mine. The price was competitive and it took all the hassle out of the selection process. I am a happy camper!

If you think these are 'high-end' you should see some of the newer entries in the great toilet bowl one-upsmanship game.

Headhunter.......complete with circuit board and it's own dedicated high volume water pump that blasts water into the unit thru a 1" PVC pipe.

Microphore.......not only with it's own electronics, but this one needs it's own dedicated air compressor that actuates a sequencer valve to control the flush sequence automatically. It has 12 air fittings on it.

I guess that the rich and famous don't have the time to make sure the flush is complete and would rather spend upwards of $1500 on a unit that does it for them...... . When the work...they're great.....but they do need to be fixed a lot!

And BTW, they are all a total PIA to work on....as one would expect!!! I guess stepping on the old pedal flush is just too taxing on the old legs don't ya know! You might actually get a workout having to lift your leg to reach the flush pedal!!!!!!

I guess this is a priority for me... I want the waste system to be as "functional" as possible. I can't see my wife and kids working a foot pedal toilet.

Glad to here you would make the same choice.

Thanks for the picts of your installed unit...they are a great help. My black tank was (and will be) below the floor. I am also welding a 12ga steel plate below the bath floor to reduce the "bounce" that was in the original set-up, so I won't have any support problems.

I'm just picturing my 7 year old twin boys using the foot pedal as a jumping jack. LOL! ...and then my teen age daughter yelling "Dad! I have to use the toilet and it's overflowing!"
