03 Airstream toilet

My toilet has stopped holding water and I have done just about everything. Silicone, clean flap etc, etc.
Any other suggestions?

Depending on the model of your toilet, there may be a rubber gasket on the underside of the hole where the flapper seats itself. In 7 years that could have easily gone bad. I suppose the spring that holds it closed could also have weakened. Check if there's a rebuild kit for your toilet make and model - the manufacturer's website might be a logical place to start. You'll surely end up pulling out the throne and rebuilding it - so super clean your black tank first or be prepared for major WHEWIE when you unbolt it.

Of course if you're one of those millionaire Airstreamers you could just replace it with a new one that washes and blow dries your nether parts!

Your Avatar says you have a Classic - I'm assuming a porcelain bowl. If it's plastic it's probably time for a new one.

When I had my "98" I needed a complete overhaul of the toilet, and there wasn't much difference between the overhaul and a new toilet. I opted for the new toilet and got the higher one. As one gets older, it makes the getting on and off easier. Plus I had had a hip replacement.

If it is a plastic toilet sometimes some paper gets in the groove of the rubber gasket on mine and prevents the plastic sealing plate from seating all the way. I take peice of a plastic fork and clean the groove out and I'm back in saddle again. Robert

This is from the manual
CAUTION: When you dump the bowl of the toilet make sure all paper and solids have cleared the
slide mechanism before you allow it to close. Failure to do so can cause the groove for the slide to become
jammed and the slide will no longer close completely.
If the problem should occur a small nail or bent clothes hanger can be used to "pick" the material out of the

, Put in a 1/2 cup of veggie oil, let it sit for awhile, work it, work it, repeat if necessary. Clean and flush well. Worked on our "classic".
