Winterizing question - what is the handle to right of sink and outlet near faucet?

I have blown my lines and run antifreeze through all of them. It runs pink at all outlets except one.

The one that won't run pink is the small outlet behind the main faucet output that is activated by turning the small handle to the right of my faucet. I suspect that this is the filtered water outlet but trying to verify that. (My unit came without a filter cap for winterizing so I always have to leave the filter in place and buy a new one each spring. ).

I suspect it is not running pink because the filtration is removing the color elements from the anti-freeze. I have run a bunch of antifreeze through the lines but cannot get this outlet to run pink.

Can anyone verify that this is the filtration handle and outlet in a 2008 25fb?

Yes, it's probably the filter removing the color from the antifreeze, but if you have the same type of filter that we have in our '10 Classic, you can just remove the filter and it should pass water, and not leak.

You have probably ruined the filter for any future use by putting antifreeze through it. You'll never get the antifreeze flavor out of the water. So you might as well remove the filter and throw it away, and not put one back until next year when you un-winterize.

Yes - well aware of that. I replace it every spring when I take it out and de-winterized it. Thanks for the warning though!

Interesting. My dealer told me I need a cap for it but maybe I will remove it with a bucket in place and see if it still flows. You are not near your unit to say what brand of filter yours is by any chance or could take a picture?

I know mine is a Moen, uses a #9601 filter, and I know if the filter is removed, somehow it does not leak.

Thanks, Steve. I was able to remove the filter and this allowed me to drain the water from the filter to the sink outlet. The line going into the filter was pink with antifreeze. I put the filter back in just to have line closure and will replace it next spring when we take the AS out of mothballs... It is all tucked away for the winter now. Boo hoo.
