Where's the pump?

I can't find the water pump on my '75 Sovereign 31. There is also a black rubber hose about a foot long connected at the valves under the kitchen sink with a clear plastic thingamabob clamped in the center of the line. Can anyone tell me what it is?

The pump is usually under the sink on a plywood shelf near the back. The hose you are describing sounds like the fresh water fill line.

I would say that the thingamabob is the line that goes to the intake of the pump. The clear device is a crude filter to keep chunks out of the pump. Do you see any other lines? There should be one to connect to the discharge of the pump.

This is making me crazy. I just looked at my thingamabob again. It is a clear plastic device about 2" square inserted into the rubber hose that is connected to the fresh water tank. It is a Shurflo model #140/170, no electrical connections. I still cant find a pump. I have gutted the inside of the trailer, so it should be easy to see. There are 2 valves and the sensors connected to the tank.

I looked on line. The thingamabob is an in line boat filter/strainer. As soon as I figure out how, I will post a picture.

On my '74 31-footer, the pump is about where that large black plastic thingummy is on yours. What is under that, by the way?

The battery box is underneath the thingummy. The old univolt used to sit on top. I haven't installed the new converter yet so I can't turn the the pump on to listen for it.

Might be the angle the picture was taken from, but looks like po has removed the pump and tied the inlet and outlet lines together.
I just pulled all my interior in a 1975 31 ft and the pump was on plywood just above the fresh water tank fill inlet.
good luck,
Jack

boilermaker,

What is your VIN? I have a 1975 Sovereign 31' and the Univolt is no where near the kitchen area. Mine is way in the back under the bathtub.

It looks like your pump is MIA. It should be right near the mess you have there.

The thingamabob is an inline strainer like I said earlier. I believe the pump has been removed. If it was there it would be in the hose in the third picture. On the right the there are 2 hoses connected together where the two hose clamps are adjacent. This is where the pump goes. The input of the pump connects to the hose that goes to the thingamabob. The discharge of the pump goes to the hose that is connected to the copper pipe. Just take the splice apart and install the pump between the 2 hoses.

Actually it is the first picture, not the third.

There is a red wire that goes nowhere that I found close to the thingamabob right next to the thingummy in the middle of the mess. That was probably connected to the pump that used to be there. Do you guys recommend a Shurflo pump?
