Water reciever

Anyone made an in-line water reciever downstream of the pump? Saw one years ago on friends AS. He used short length of PVC with caps, drilled and tapped...water in one side, water out on other. Seemed to remove hammering. Works like accumulator, but no bladder.

This works, but typically you want a tee with a blind section of pipe pointing upwards. A regular small accumulator will do wonders of course in stopping the pump from cycling quite so much.
