Water Pump not working, power issue?

Hi,
This is my first post. Bought a new for us airstream (2005 30' Classic) that the freshwater pump will not turn on. Previous owners never used the pump, and when they had bought the trailer, the original owner had included a replacement.

Prior to swapping the pump, I tested the power with a multimeter. I didn't get any voltage to the pump, no matter which way the switch was turned, water turned off or on, testing before or after the pressure switch (on pump). I didn't know how to take the cover off the micropulse to test the power coming out after the on/off switch, because I didn't want to break the micropulse. I'm would love to hear any troubleshooting ideas, and how to get the micropulse off the wall so I can test without breaking it. Also, there was no water in the tank (didn't know if there was some kind of safety in there), I just wanted to hear the pump run for a sec to see if it was indeed burned out.

Last thing, we're due to take the trailer (Ann) out next week for her inaugural trip....It would be nice if the pump worked.

Thanks for any help,
Seth

Welcome to the forum!

Disclaimer -- advice from a non-electrician layman . . .

Check your owner's manual for the location of the 12-volt distribution panel and circuit breakers. You might just need to flip/reset a circuit breaker IMO. You also might have a loose connection where the pump wiring attaches to that circuit breaker, on the back of that panel I think. Disconnect batteries and shore power before exploring behind the panel.

Your manual should let you identify the correct 12-volt circuit for the pump. Just flip that breaker on and off a few times. If the circuit breakers for 2005 are the auto-resetting style, you won't be able to flip them on and off. Check manual. If you have no manual, one can be located online, so please advise.

Do all the other 12-volt appliances/circuits work?

What is your battery voltage per the panel's read-out? The new pump may require good voltage to work IMO.

Doesn't that MicroPulse switch panel just pull of the wall like a regular electrical surface mounted device?

Good luck,

Peter

PS -- The new search function in the blue box above works great!

Thanks Peter. All other 12v stuff works. On the 12v panel, there are black buttons to reset (front of airstream under couch). No luck. I did pull the panel off and found (2) wires plugged into switch, and a 3rd wire loose behind panel. There are places for 3 wires to plug into switch. I know the purple wire is for the pump, but can someone take a photo of the front of their panel (to compare so that it’s the same) and a photo of where all the wires are plugged into the back?

Also, I tried search function but did not find anything relating to no power to the pump. But I could have missed it

Sorry I can't help with those details, Seth. I would suggest posting in the forum that covers your AS model:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f252/

. . . where you might find a good contact person with a similar AS. Then "Quote" him or her [button below to the right] to try to get some feedback and photos. When you quote someone, this site usually sends them an email alerting them to the quote. It would help IMO if you could post some photos in that forum too.

It may be worth hiring a skilled mobile RV repair technician to trouble-shoot this? It is above my pay grade.

You might also want to add your 2005 Classic ID under your User Name on the left, by going to the User CP [link above to the left in the menu bar], to get folks on the same page about your exact AS model.

Good luck,

Peter

PS -- "pump no power" results -- https://www.google.com/search?q=pump...=airforums.com

PS2 -- FYI I have quoted you and edited inside the quote to minimize its size -- did you get an email about this quote?
