My suggestion would be to try rebuilding your existing PAR pump as the new brand X pumps will likely only last, at best, 1/3 as long as a PAR. At one time, most Airstream dealers stocked the rebuild and repair parts, now, boating and marine supply stores are a better bet for the repair and rebuild parts. You can still purchase new PAR pumps, but be prepared when the vendor quotes the price for a new PAR.

Good luck with your investigation . . .

Before replacing the pump make sure there is water to the inlet. If so disconnect the hose on the discharge side of the pump. Then try it again, sometimes they get airlocked and won't prime.

Look for a rocker switch near the Galley sink. On my '74 it is located above and to the left of the sink.

I have done as you stated with the rocker switch and it has been replaced , it still will not run .It would run when switched on when the fresh water tank was empty and once fill , I turned on the switch and one could her the pumps power wind down in power and then nothing .
Now I did not have any thing open calling for water and when the pump stoped running I step out and looked under the trailer and I could see a leak and water coming out around the rubber hose with the release lever in it , the rubber was dry rote. So I then opened the release lever and let all the remaining water out of the tank and now the pump will not run .
Do you think it sucked air and stoped and needs to be primed and if so how does one prime the pump , I am very new to the AIR STREAM COMMUNITY AND HAVE NEVER OWNED ON IN THE PAST OR FOR THAT FACT AND TRAVEL TRAILER.???? help!

Did ya replace the filter? It could be clogged...

Be patient and slow down....if you get upset and frustrated
bad things can happen quickly.

I had the same problem and I found out I had a microscopic leak sucking air. Also don't have the lines going into the pump higher then the pump. I used teflon tape and lowered the line and everything works

I HAVE DONE AS YOU HAVE INSTRUCTED ---
Before replacing the pump make sure there is water to the inlet. If so disconnect the hose on the discharge side of the pump. Then try it again, sometimes they get airlocked and won't prime.

AFTER DOING ALL THAT NOW ALL IS WELL , BUT I HAVE ONE QUESTION
EVEN THOUGH THE PUMP IS WORKING AT THE PRESENT TIME , I DID FIND THAT THE RUBBER TUBE ON THE TANK THATIS USED TO RELEASE THE WATER FROM THE TANK FROM UNDER THE TRAILER ------HAD HOLES IN IT FROM AGE AND THE WATER WAS COMING OUT .

DO YOU THINK THAT WAS THE ISSUE FOR THE PUMP STOPING? IN THE FIRST PLACE SUCKING AIR?????????

I DO WANT TO USE THE PUMP TO WINTERIZE MY UNIT , I BELIEVE YOU CAN BUY A ATTACHMENT TO PUNP ANTI FREEZE IN TO THE LINE IN THE TRAILER .

AGAIN THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOU HELP .

These pumps are equipped with a pressure switch, either internal or external. They have ratings on them, so many GPH (gallons per hour) or GPM (Gallons per minute) at a specific pressure. It sounds to me like you built up pressure, enough to satisfy the pressure requirement and the pump shut down. That is what is supposed to happen. If you don't have a faucet open and turn on the pump, you may not here it start because there is pressure in the system. When you open the faucet and the water starts to run out, the pressure will drop in the system, the pressure switch will see the drop in pressure, the contacts in the switch will close and start the pump. If you have a faucet with a small opening, restricting the water flow to something less than the pump flow rating, (ie GPM or GPH) the pump will cycle on and off. This is also normal.

DO YOU THINK THAT THE RUBBER TUBE ON THE TANK ,THAT IS USED TO RELEASE THE WATER FROM THE TANK FROM UNDER THE TRAILER ------ THAT HAD HOLES IN IT FROM AGE AND THE WATER WAS COMING OUT HAD NO BEARING ON THE PUMP STOPING .?? that is now repaired.
THE TANK NEVER DID FILL UP AND I STILL HAD TO AS YOU INSTRUCTED OPEN ONE END OF THE HOSE FROM THE PUMP WERE SOME WATER CAME OUT AND THEN THE PUMP STARTED TO RUN ONCE A GAIN .

BUT AS I STATED I DID NOT HAVE FAUCET SET TO THE OPEN POSITION !
