Water Pump - Fuse Amperage???

While winterizing I discovered a blown fuse to water pump. The old fuse looked to be 6.4 amps. I blew a 7.5 amp fuse within 15 seconds and as I needed to drain fresh tanks and circulate the antifreeze I tried a 10 amp fuse. The fuse worked fine.

Am I risking damage by running 10 amp fuse??? and does anyone know what the original would be for 1970???

Thanks to all.

Ken.

If my memory is correct, then you will want to use a 6 1/4 amp SLO-BLO fuse, If there is a short and you use a 10 amp fuse you run the risk of overheating and damaging the wiring going to the water pump.
