Thumbs down Water Heater woes

I am having trouble with the new water heater. The other day I was using it in a very strong cross wind with a small service door open on the cover. What I think may have happened is the exhaust wasn't venting as well as it might have because of the wind. In any case, several of the wires got hot enough to discolor but none burnt though. The water heater will not do anything on gas or electric. I am wondering if there is a fuse I should be looking for, or if maybe the circuit board got toasted. Ideas?

Is it an auto-ignition model?
If so, there is a thermal fuse in a clear tube that goes to the circuit board that could have melted. Try temporarily removing the limiter, plug in the wire the limiter goes into and the connector on the other end of it, and try running the water heater. If it lights, you need a new limiter.

OK Terry, good call! Can anyone suggest the best place in Albuquerque to get one of these? How much do they cost. Having lost mine out in the boonies, I think I may get an extra as well. Reading other threads it looks like these things drop like French prize fighters.

The new part is in. Interestingly, while everyone claims that these shouldn't fail they sell them in packets of two. If you don't carry a spare one with you I would recommend thinking about doing so. Its an easy fix and apparently a common issue.
