Water Heater Question On a 1983 Excella

I've had the trailer about 3 years but just noticed this electrical cord running up the wall behind the curb side curtain. I traced it back down to the top of the hot water heater where it plug in to the heater as seen on the attached photo. (which I hope post as I've not tried. Photo before). But just in case the plug is about 3" by 3". Other than this I have no idea what it does so if any knows let me know please! Thanks

It looks like the electric option for your water heater-- no need to burn your propane when you can use the electric element. Make sure the water heater is full f water when you try it out!

Yes, ours has a plug in the rear bedroom. That lights the water heater automatically. 1982 excella.
