Water heater lock out

2nd trip with new 22 and water heater not going on now. Switch red light stays on after several light attempts when I shut switch off and then back on. Manual say solid ted light means lock out for hi temp water. Been off all night so water not hot. Any ideas?

Question. Are you hooked up to city water? Do you have water at hot water faucets. Have you had hot water yesterday? Is there water at tank drain? Are the by pass valves off?

You are going to hate me but is the gas on at the tank? Was it shut off in storage and just got turned on before you left? Is the stove working?

Do you hear the igniter clicking or does the light go to red immediately?

On mine, first trip of the season might take three or four ignition attempts before you hear it light off.

Solid red light means that the water heater failed to light on the previous attempt. It will not keep trying on its own once the light comes on.

Turn it off, then on again. If the red light comes on, there is an issue. As above, make sure you have gas on (see if your stove lights, for example), be particularly sure that you have water in the heater - for example, are you sure the bypass valve is permitting water into the heater. Actually, this is the first thing to do before trying to start the water heater.

I second the Dinosaur Board. Had some problems with my Chinese supplied stock board, replaced it with a Dinosaur.

Hi Garfish - what is the make/model of your water heater? You said the solenoid valve is opening so you would be smelling some propane because of that. Sometimes the igniter assembly can go bad, and if you are hearing clicking but seeing no spark from the igniter it could be the assembly needs to be replaced. One of the "jobs" the board has is to "sense" the flame and when the igniter doesn't ignite the burner...there's no flame to sense of course. So it will try and then for safety reasons lockout. That means it closes that solenoid valve and the flow of propane. When you turn it off and on again you're resetting that. I'm sure you've figured that (I'm kind of just thinking out loud a bit). But I'm thinking the igniter assembly is not working correctly. It could be as simple as the gap between the igniter and the sensing probe is not at 1/8" anymore - if that gap is too little or too far apart, it won't work right either.

It’s the board. Everything was working fine the day before and no changes, plenty of propane, water. It just does not spark after three auto attempts and then solid red. Coach-Net did respond and said they would have someone come and then called to say I would hear fro AS Scottsdale. No call. 2019 22 just like my friend who told me his board replaced 3 times.

At least the board is replaceable.

Just for the heck of it, try removing the current board, cleaning the contacts and then shove it back it good and firmly.

Can't hurt and sometimes you might get lucky.

Pat

Need to go to dealer for lift kit so having them do WH fix under warranty and at same time find out why no signal from antenna or cable when at RV parks. Never worked since purchased last year

Garfish you are not alone. 2019 Sport 22 water heater is simply unreliable. Sometimes it fires and will heat initially during setup, then it just shuts down and won’t restart even the next day. Haven’t taken tomdealer yet as sometimes it fires on first try and will heat but sometimes nothing. We’ve been staying in parks with showers and sinks so not a big deal. Just another AS surprising quality issue.
