Water heater Indicator light

The water heater on my 07 25' FB International CCD works fine. My question is: When I flip the on switch the red light internal to the switch lights up and as soon as the propane is lit it goes off. The Heater heats the water in an appropriate manner. On my past AS the light remained on as long as the heater was functioning. Is it possible that the design has changed?

Thanks,

I think so. Our old trailer an SOB had a light that stayed on. Our 2012 27FB does not stay on. It will go out after the water tank is heating.

We would prefer that it stays on but we have learned to live with it.

Yes, it's working properly. If the little red light stays on, recycle a switch, you'll hear it try to start again, usually a little por, then the I'm working sound, mine sometimes takes a try or two. If it gets stubborn, there's a procedure in your owners manual outlining how to get a little airspace in the heater tank.

That's how it's supposed to work. If the light stays on the gas failed to ignite after three tries. Cycling the switch will reset it.

Thank you one and all. I feel better now that I know it is functioning correctly. This is a great forum.

Keep the dirty side down,

Another note on the red light on the switch. I have had several DSI hot water heaters and all of them had the red light which went on for about a second and then went out when the burner lighted.

On my new 2014 FC, the red light is just a tiny flash, so quick it is even difficult to see after I turn the switch on. It is not the one second + light that I had in older units, so again things seem to have changed even further.

Active water heater indicator

I did a little tinkering job on my previous and my present Airstreams. After removing the water heater access panel in tne bathroom and probing with a multimeter checking for 12vdc on the different contact points, I added a small 12vdc LED to indicate when the water heater is active. The job is not difficult, but caution must be used as insulated leads must be extended by soldering on the LED.

Thanks,
The indicator light on my water heater switch just sorta blinks when you turn on the switch. Water heater works fine. Another question for the mother ship.

Water Heater Indicator Light

Carver1: Ron, I'm going to attempt to add a few photos of the 12vdc LED monitor indicator that I've installed. I hope this works for you.
