Water Heater Ignition Help Please?
I'm stumped. I just put a never used Atwood water heater (2007) in my soon to be useable '82 Excella. It will not light. I have cleaned the gas valve, checked the gas on the incoming side, the ignitor cycles and sparks in a sequence of three tries, then shuts down, as it should. It sounds like the gas valve opens but no gas flows into the combustion chamber. Jumping around the thermostat produces no change. I tried an extra ground with the same dismal result. Here's the kicker: a 2amp battery charger connected to the otherwise electrically isolated gas valve makes things roar to life. Happy as a clam. Why does my gas valve not see a full 12volts when wired to the trailer. Is my "never used" board fried? In the interest of full disclosure, there is no "did not light" light in the circuit.
Thanks in advance to all,
Jeff
