Drain plug under water and pressurized regardless of an air cushion in the top of the water heater or not. Don't understand the connection.
No pun intended.
Atwood water heater drain plug issue - 2017 AS Int'l
I purchased two drain plugs from the local hardware store at $1.76 each.
I've replaced the WH drain plug but it still drips. I wrapped the plug w/ teflon tape in hopes to prevent the drip but to no avail.
So, I bought two plugs from Amazon for $10 which have the same exact model no. as recommended from AS thinking they were better. When I received them they were exactly like the drain plugs I purchased from the hardware store for $1.76 each. Someone's making a tidy profit from these... lol. Don't buy them from AMAZON.
I did notice that the drip is more prominent when the water is connected to the campsite water and under pressure.
Any suggestions?
Another plumber here, and I agree with previous post, get rid of the plastic plug, it has different thermal growth characteristics than the surrounding metal. My plastic plug started leaking and I just replaced with a brass plug and small amount of pipe dope . No more leaks.
