Water heater door

Attached is a picture of the external water heater door/cover on my '57 Flying Cloud. Is this the way they came or is this someones homemade project or is this most of the way it came w/ some stuff missing?

I'd like to stay as close to original as possible but I need to know what it looked like when it was made. Any ideas, pictures, advice, or suggestions would be appreciated!

On this note when does one find owner's manuals or other literature that came w/ these things? I'd like to find some good original unadulterated pictures (inside and out) so I could have a base.

Thanks!

Larry,

For the most complete set of pictures go to Vintage Airstream Home.
