water filter help

I'm replacing the small water filter with a big household one, but I need to know which direction the water goes.

Would the water come through the pump first into the filter, or through the filter first toward the pump?

Any help would be appreciated.

Just kidding. The filter should come before the pump so that the filter can protect the pump from particulates.

It is not clear whether you are replacing the small filter at the pump (answer above) or the filter under the kitchen sink. If it is that one the flow is from the pump toward the faucet.

Well, now I'm not sure, I'll have to go figure that out...

It's the little blue plastic one that's about 12 inches from the water pump, it's just got a round aluminum? screen in it and the clear plastic dome cracked.

So there's two filters under the sink?

I'll go have a look around.

That sounds like a filter for the pump. usually just a screen to keep grit out.

There is probably a canister filter under the sink also. These usually had a charcoal filter in them to eliminate bad tastes. If there that one will be bigger
