Use of Hott Rod?

Since we are having trouble with our Atwood Water Heater (WH), I am investigating options for having hot water this weekend while camping. A friend of mine suggested installing the HOTT Rodd (http://www.campingworld.com/browse/p...=1653&src=SRQB) in our water heater.

Before deciding to do this, I wanted to ask here if anyone uses devices such as these. If so:

1) How easy are they to install? (heard you just install them in the drain hole for the WH tank)

2) How well do they work?

3) Does installation void the manufacturer's warranty?

We have an appt with the service dept of the AS dealer in IL on Friday (which is our destination for this weekend). I am not sure that they will be able to fix it that day, so I'm getting concerned that we may not have hot water for another weekend (Bummer)

Please chime in if you have any knowledge or experience with products like the HOTT Rod.

Thanks!

Yes it will. It is a modification to the unit and will void the warranty, per Atwood.
