Suburban gas/elec W/H. Good value?

Anyone have an opinion on whether or not the suburban gas /elect water heater is worth the price? does the added feature of having it run on shore power pay for itself? Just wondering.

If I replaced mine, I would replace it with a Suburban. I just cant imagine the Atwoods being worth almost twice the price.

I am looking to purchase a replacement. Previously the trailer had a Atwood. I saved the stainless steel door from the previous water heater. If I purchase a Suburban water heater will the old door work/fit on the Suburban?

I personally like the Atwood water heaters because of the fully aluminum tank, whereas the Suburban is porcelin lined. I have had both and to me the Atwood gave better longevity and also usually will fit exactly where and old Bowen was because Bowen was made by Atwood.

Cynical?....if your paying a flat fee for a hook-up, why not let the madam pay for the hot water?

We dock-a-lot so electric not used much, but it is a nice option to have.

After 15 years of fighting to keep the gas water heater lit, we finally added an electric probe and have been using only electric for the past year. The cost savings is not the issue to us. It is the convenience. Especially when we were out west, the constant wind kept blowing out the pilot. The add-on was about $100, and to me, was well worth it. If we had to replace the whole water heater we would certainly buy an LP/Elect unit. And, it doesn't hurt that the hot water is paid by the parking fee.

Thanks...I think Ill stick with the Atwood. The Suburan's are about 100.00 cheaper but probably not worth the hassle to try and switch.
