Anode petcock comparison

to add to the debate-
the eaten anode came out of my lp gas only water heater, it is about a year old...

Hi

The anode will dissolve regardless of if its doing anything "electrochemical" or not. If the water you put in is very soft ( or slightly acid ), they go pretty fast.
