Shurflo pump problems

Almost finished with my 65 Caravel airstream everthing is working fine execpt my pump, the old owner said that he put a new one in, and when I flipped the switch on, you could here it running. I filled the water tank for my first time turned on the pump it started and everything was great and all of a sudden it stopped, all the wires seem to be connected, I turned it off then back on and I could feel a slight vibration to the motor then it stop again,
any idea would help, this is my first time trying this

Uhhh...

Did you have a faucet open when you tried it? The pumps are designed to shut off when they reach full pressure, and turn back on when the pressure drops.

Check the power and ground to it, ours had a ground wire that looked good, but didnt' make a good connection. When the motor ran without a load, it was fine, but when I put a load on it (water) and it drew more amperage, the ground opened and the motor stopped.

check the in-line filter..If you don't have one, then you just might have a clogged impeller. Which means that, you'll have to take the pump apart to clean it.
BTW, if you don't have an in-line filter, after cleaning it..It's easy to put one on and, they're real cheap insurance. (Less than 10$)
Hope this helps you...

Yes. You can try plugging into shore power, the Univolt will charge the battery, as well as provide (hopefully) enough power to run the pump.

Okay, shore power is when you plug your trailer into 120V. Next step will be determining if you have a Univolt, or other form of 12v DC supply, but one thing at a time. If you plug it in, and the lights in the trailer get brighter, it is working.

The trailer has been sitting since Nov will retoring, when I hook up the 120v every thing work great, all lights, heater, etc. then there is a box next to the wheel well with 2 toggles that I switch to city, when I unplug, and switch to battery ever thing goes dark, there is also another box on the other side of the wheel well that seems to be hmmmmmmmmmm all the time......

The humming sound is coming from your Univolt (battery charger/12 volt DC converter). It is operating. Now, hopefully the pump will start working, too.

Water Pump

Hi,
You may have found your problem already. One problem I had was with the pump. I replaced it because it would not work. I was using it on shore power. Now I have a replacement pump (in stock).
I guess the univolt was no suppling enough power to operate it properly. It would hum like it was working but did not. Worked when switched to battery. So now if I want to use the water pump, I use it on battery and keep the battery charged with a separate charger that I plug in when hooked to electric. Everything else works fine on shore power. This may work for you.
