Refund processed by Michael Varno at Airstream Owner Relations. mvarno@airstream.com

He was very helpful!

Well I guess we’ll see, I’ll test that theory in May. I have an appointment at the factory (for a different problem) and I will present my dead board to them in person, maybe it will help with the gas on my 700 mile round trip.

Let us know how that goes. I replaced our board sometime last year, still have the original one. Will be going up to JC in Sept for unrelated work. I'll have to dig up the receipt for the dinosaur board to show them.

I just sent another note to Michael Varno at Airstream Owner Relations.

TWO dometic board failures
dometic paid for one( the 1st failure)
claim to have never received the second, even though they gave me a WO/RO #

Dometic has also lost many customer items during their office move in 2017/2018

i asked As the pay me back as dometic is useless

Unhappy

Mine worked at least once during the overnight at the dealer... after seeing these threads I pointedly asked about it and was told that it was a bad batch and things would be fine...

Well... I checked it out and it was working, fired a couple times. Unfortunately I subsequently used the electric dual mode afterwards not realizing that the gas ignitor fault wouldn’t show up when doing that.

Of course the following weekend for the first trip and it doesn’t work.

I don’t like to buy cheap disposable landfill(-er) and always buy fewer quality items when possible—like many on this forum. To have utter trash bolted on this trailer is disgraceful to the craftsmen who developed the skill and care to set all those rivets.

Given that of course I am not going to waste my time with more garbage parts to throw in the dump. I just ordered a Dino board, Im thankful for all those on this forum and the others that use it and took the time to report it as a superior solution.

Just an update since January. Our first replacement board was refunded by our dealership. It was just like the original (Zhendong?). It failed shortly after installing it. Our second replacement board was sent directly from Airstream in January. We dealt with Chris Birch. This board was different than the original. At first it looked like it wouldn't fit, but it did. We have had no issues with this board so far. It takes about 10 seconds for it to ignite. Airstream is well aware of the original board issues and has been equally frustrated. We had good support from our dealer and Airstream.

Second striker board out on 22FB water heater

Just spend $110 and buy a Dinosaur board. No more hassle.

While your at it get a Dinosaur board for the refrigerator at the same time as it will fail also you just won’t know when or where.

Got to our site, fired up the water heater so wife could do dishes after dinner. Sounded a little odd but figured it was the altitude. Shut it off, went to bed. Next morning noticed really bad soot on the side of the trailer. Found a spider web in the tube, cleaned it and was working fine. Next morning, nothing. Not even trying to ignite after gas valve opens.

Not even going to mess around with a factory replacement. Thanks to all before me, I just ordered the dino board. It sucks to spend 125 dollars on a new trailer, but not nearly as much as it stinks to have no hot water.

I used to camp in tents and freeze my butt off, I'm so bougie now!
