Rheem 110v electric hot water tank......

Has anybody tried this hot water tank by Rheem, like the size and price.

Rheem builds good stuff. I would have to compare it to this one: Whirlpool at Lowe's: 6-Gallon Electric Water Heater. Both Reheem and Whirlpool built appliances in Fort Smith, Arkansas for years. Of course, no idea where these were made.

I looked at small electric water heaters a few years ago when the one in the Trade Wind started leaking. I was surprised at the current price of the Whirlpool, much less the Rheem. There is no reason to pay RV prices for what is basically a home or office product. At least shop around.

I'm restoring a 1955 airstream and I don't want to cut a large hole for the Atwood hot water tank, so I'm looking at the small electric heater. Was looking at the RV-500 Propane Tankless which I think is the only tankless one that is certified for RV's but its over $1000.00, a big price for instant hot water.

I looked at the same instant heater. I like the idea, but would have to go though a lot of hot water for the price difference.

Does your 55 not have a water heater already? I was assuming that you were looking for a replacement and considering your options. My 67 is as old as I can claim any expertise at all.

If you are going 110v why not use a 110 volt single source tankless heater. (around $200.00) I use one plumbed in front of the suburban water heater so the water is heated before it goes into the tank. The suburban maintains the hot water and I can still use the suburban propane heater when dry docked. The tankess workes great, I get all of the hot water I want. The only draw back is that the plumbing inside the tankless is small diameter and the flow is reduced. If possible I plug the camper into the 50 amp and the water heater into the 30 amp and it works great.

Starting to look for the 55, looking at electrical hot water tanks at the moment, I just don't want to cut a large hole for a propane heater, want to keep the outside looking vintage. Looking at a Isotemp Isotemp Marine Water Heaters requires only 8 amps.
