Replacing hot water heater

We have a 2008 19' international. The water heater is shot. 1. Best place to purchase a new one? 2. How hard is it?

I bought mine from PPL RV, which does online business, offers cheap shipping, and sale prices.

I would say that the job of replacement is of moderate difficulty, but that depends on your level of DIY expertise. There are several tasks involved: You will have to drill out and replace blind rivets (easy), disconnect and reattach the water lines (moderate, depending on the connections and tightness of the space), disconnect and reattach wiring (easy--take electrical safety precautions and make sure the new one wires up like the old one), and finally, you will need to disconnect and reattach the propane line (moderate--you need to know what you are doing).

Good luck!

Look at Adventure RV.
They had a 6 gallon pilot model for less than $300.
Pilot models are simple. No electronics.
Shop ebay.
Adventure RV is located in Tennessee.

Or consider a Truma “Aqua Go comfort” that is an instant on demand water heater that does not store six gallons (about 50 pounds of weight) and keep it hot all the time. That unit is smaller than the original.

We retrofitted that model to both our 2014 31’ Classic and our2015 23D International Serenity. Runs only on propane with a 12Vdc control circuit.

Replacing hot water heater

Or a PrecisionTemp 500 series tankless. Atwood also makes a knockoff of it.

Fits in essentially the same hole.
