Question Replacing Atwood WH - G6A6 to G6A7

OK, this should be easy, right? Just two water connections inside and a gas connection outside, a bunch of perimeter screws, and it falls out in your hand.

Right?

I've still got copper inside, so sharkbite connections are on the menu.

Anything else I need to worry about up front?

Will the old cover fit on the new WH?

Thanks!

Well, it won't fall out in your hand, there is a lot of mastic, and it will take a bit of work to cut through it all and pry the old one out. Sometimes people think there is some other fastener holding it in, but no, just the exterior screws and sealant.

I don't know the model numbers you refer to, but in general if you replace with the same Atwood brand, the covers will interchange. Some of the really old ones are a bit different though and the vent style and location are slightly different. They used to have the tube vent cover attached to the vent tube and the outer cover fit over it when latched. Now the vent tube cover is attached to the outer cover and drops away when opened.
