Replacement water heater 1976 A/S

Its time to replace the old org Bowen hot water heater. I am leaning toward the RV 500 tankless model. Has anyone actually installed this unit and maybe have some instructions with picturers.

I fianlly had time to arrange the picturers that I took of the installation of the RV 500 water heater in my 1976 31' A/S. Not a bad project at all. It works great and looks very good as well. Instant hot water as long as you have propane and a cold water supply. Thanks Lewster for all of your help and support.

Hello Don,

I have a 1966 26' Overlander and have been told the Water Heater is bad. I was so glad to see your posting. I wanted to go with a tankless but was told by a service person at the Camper store that he heard it didn't work well.

Would you be willing to tell how much you paid for the unit and how much time it took to do the project.

I know nothing and am brand new to owning an Airstream...or any camper for that matter. Any thoughts are helpful. Where are you located maybe I can hire you????

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The RV 500 works great. I have had no problems at all. The installation was not all that bad once I got the old heater out. The RV 500 will fit back into a space where a 10 gal Bowen/Atwood heater was and will also fit where a 6 gal had been, maybe with just minor alterations. Hooking up the gas and water is fairly simple. If you are patient and handy in working on detailed projects then it should not be a problem. But if not then have someone else do it. Most RV service centers don't even know about this heater and will try and steer you away from using it. The cost, not cheap. Check with Lewster he was a big help to me in getting the RV 500 and providing helpful information on the install. look at this thread.
