Question on conversion of Atwood 6 gal door

I am refurbishing a 1969 Avion C-11 camper. It had a Bowen/Atwood 6 gallon water heater that was leaking at the tank. I replaced it with a new Atwood electronic ignition water heater.
Does anyone have info on the best way to convert the old aluminum door to work with the new style water heater door system. My old door clipped over the top lip of the heater and latched at the bottom. The new heater has what appears to be hinges at the bottom and latches with a slot at the top. My heater was ordered without a door because they only had only "white" doors.
I know that I saw someone who did a conversion, but I can't find it using the search function.

Thanks in advance,

Order a door and either paint it aluminum or strip the white off and it will be aluminum. Might be a lot easier than trying to convert the stile of hinge you have to the newer ones.

Just a thought at any rate.
